Fabulous Fall Curls With Philip B., John Frida, and KMS

It’s the beginning of fall, (except for here, in Los Angeles because it’s still 100 degrees), however it’s the time of year where PSL arrives at Starbucks and stores role out their Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas decorations within weeks of each other. It’s also the time of year where you will most likely be attending a lot of parties and gatherings.

You’ll also obviously be wanting to have spot-on perfect hair.

This season it’s all about big, beautiful and loose curls. To achieve this look, it takes a little bit of extra-time and a few spectacular haircare products. But, trust me, it’s well worth the time and effort.

If you are like me I have really thick and long hair, so when I have to curl my hair it’s always a huge process. That is until now, thanks to Philip B., John Frida, and KMS it’s quick, easy and I get the salon results at home.

First I start by washing my hair with Philip B. Russian Amber Shampoo. It develops into a nice lather and I only need a little bit. I leave it on my hair for about five minutes. You can find it at Barney’s, Nordstroms,  and Bloomingdales as well as other online retailers.

Then I condition with Philip B. Russian Amber Imperial Conditioning Creme and apply this all over my hair, wrap into a tight bun and wear for the remainder of my shower. After, I wrap my hair into a tightly twisted terrycloth towel. I SWEAR by Turbie Twists, they are a life saver and you can get a set of two at Bed Bad & Beyond for only $9.99. It’s important to keep your hair wrapped for at least 35-45 minutes or longer for thicker and longer hair. I sometimes will wrap my hair over night.

Next unwrap your hair and spray on Philip B. time-released Oud Royal Thermal hair perfume. It’s a mix of botanical hydrators like, (Safflower Oleosomes, Mongogo Oil, and Artichoke Leaf Extract) and a potent L-Amino Acid Complex. It’s also a heat protectant and hair plumper. It also is one of the best leav-in spray’s I’ve EVER smelled. I’m obsessed with it.  It’s a light rich fragrance with notes of Oud, and will gradually release the scent over time. You will want to apply it to towel dried hair to elevate shine and it really helps to prevent any sort of breakage.

Alternatively, you can mist it on your hair before heading to the pool or sitting in the sun while at the beach. It acts as a weightless shield against the sun, chlorine, and even salt water. It’s even safe for all hair types: color and keratin treatment-safe, too! And it’s only $25.00 for 4.23 oz or you can get a 2 oz. smaller version for $12.00.  It’s carried at PhilipB.com as well as fine department stores. I swear by this product, I’ve been using it almost every day for the last two weeks and I’m hooked. It also helps to give that extra shine to your curls!

Then once your hair has air-dried you’ll begin to separate your hair into smaller sections. Making sure to separate from front to back evenly. I always start from the back left and work my way around finishing the left side first then moving on to the right back and then to the front. Start by spraying your hair with KMS Medium Hold Hairspray. It’s lightweight and still gives a nice hold without leaving your hair sticky and heavy. It’s easy to work with and is humidity resistant. You can find it at salons nationwide and retails for only $19.99.

Once you’ve sprayed your section of hair with KMS you will begin to wrap your hair from the base of the curling iron to the tip. I use John Frida’s Loose Curls 1 1/4′ Curling Iron. It delivers a nice loose curl with added shine and volume. It retails for $29.99 but, you can get it right NOW on ULTA.com for $24.99. Continue wrapping your hair section by section until complete. Then run your fingers through your hair in a downward sweeping motion no more than one or two times. Lightly finish with KMS Hairspray and Philip B. Oud Royal Thermal Hair Perfume.
